JEFF SCOTT SOTO Lands On Frontiers, Gets Dissed By "Queen"
January 23, 2002Former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN/current TALISMAN / HUMANIMAL singer Jeff Scott Soto will likely ink a deal with Frontier Records for the release of his new solo project following his “amicable” split with the Z label earlier in the month. A fall release is expected. Meanwhile, Soto's contributions to the upcoming Queen Of The Damned movie soundtrack have now been completely scrapped following the decision by Warner Bros. Records to issue the album and enlist some of their better-known hard rock/metal artists (i.e. Marilyn Manson, DISTURBED's David Draiman, ORGY's Jay Gordon and LINKIN PARK's Chester Bennington) to track the vocals instead as a means to make the album more “commercially viable”. As previously reported, Soto had originally duplicated KORN frontman Jonathan Davis' vocals after the latter's contributions were deemed unusable as a result of record company legalities that prevented him from appearing on the CD. Davis co-penned five songs for the film with OINGO BOINGO's Richard Gibbs and will reportedly be heard in the songs' versions included in movie itself.
